Could only mean 'unreachable'. I was wrong.
I thought autism was kids who couldn't talk and who just rocked back and forth.
Clearly I thought wrong.
I also thought autism was something I didn't have to worry about.
would never, ever happen to one of my children. That kind of stuff happens to other people.
I ... I don't know. I really don't.
I thought autism was the "classic" description, non verbal, head banging, hand flapping, rocking. So I never once sensed it might be what was 'wrong' with my son.
So additionally, I thought autism would never touch us.
